About Larry Katzman (Kaz)

Over three million copies of his Nellie Nifty, RN book collections and greeting cards in five languages have helped people get well sooner.

Larry's Nurse Nellie cartoons have appeared in newspapers and magazines in 21 countries and were awarded the Palma d'Oro, the highest prize in international cartooning at the 19th International Salon of Humor in Bordighera, Italy.

He is a long-time director and officer of the National Cartoonists Society and its charity arm, The Milt Gross Fund, and is recipient of the Silver T-Square Award for service to the organization. In 2005 he was further honored with the society's prestigious Gold Key/ NCS Hall of Fame Award.

Larry Katzman led a double life. An electrical engineer and inventor, as President and CEO he built a small family company into the world's largest manufacturer of electric health appliances, with over 3500 employees at factories, offices and warehouses throughout the globe. Its Kaz, Vicks and Honeywell branded products include vaporizers, humidifiers, heating pads, air cleaners, thermometers, fans and heaters. On evenings and weekends he could be found moonlighting as Kaz the cartoonist and puzzle creator. The company was sold in 2010.

He continues as Kaz the cartoonist and creator of HeadLines and GagLines acrostic-type puzzles and a new French-language version, A La Une.

Larry lives in Harrison, New York, in Westchester County. His three children have given him six grandchildren, the apples of his eye.
